Basic task of a computer was typing, and the first software I introduced back then was WordStar. But, the blue background of the software was so lame, thus Microsoft Word was even better to beat the old guy WordStar.
From the 2003 version, MS Word has been evolving to the 2007 version, with a lot of redesign on the layout as well as on the features. It supports the XML-based file format (with the .docx extension), Calibri default-font, translation tool-tip, new contextual spell-checker, etc.
If you are using Word 2003 and shifting to Word 2007, there is some stuff you need to learn and adapt since the layout is totally different. The ‘Ribbon’ is introduced to give more usability rather those old dropdown menus.
There is a quick reference for you to learn the Microsoft Office Word 2007. Just in case.
